Welcome to the I Think I Can Team sign-up page!
By joining the I Think I Can Team you will raise money for Rutherford Books From Birth! Every $1.25 that you raise pays for one more child to have a book mailed directly to their home in Rutherford County!
Dolly Parton’s favorite book is "The Little Engine That Could". You will receive a copy of this book when you register here to join
the I Think I Can Team! This is also the first book that every child receives when they enroll in the program. Through cooperation with Dolly Parton's
Imagination Library and the Governor’s Books From Birth Foundation, we are now mailing over 7,000 books to children under age five in Rutherford County.
As of July, 2007 we have mailed 93,289 books! Each enrolled child receives one book every month mailed to their home until their fifth birthday.
The last book (on their fifth birthday) is "Kindergarten, Here I Come!".
These are all hard-back books with retail values of $10-$15, shipped from the publisher to the child through a mail center in Knoxville, TN.
Many California Counties base their prison budgets on 3rd grade illiteracy rates, because many studies show a strong correlation between illiteracy and imprisonment.
69% of our nation's inmates cannot read at level 2. At risk children can be identified within the third week of Kindergarten, because some children get to their first
day of school with no book or reading exposure. Some families do not own books or frequent their local library. Together, with your help, we are solving this problem!
